im still asked about the benefits of quartz, corain, granite etc so as promised wel document it for you bit by bit!!
here is a couple of quotes on what exactly the surfaces are, corian has the same composition as starton, lg, hanex, LG Hi-macs etc
Corian is a synthetic, solid, nonporous, surface countertop material developed by Dupont. One of the many advantages of Corian is that the countertops feature a nearly seamless joint. Corian is also extremely durable and easy to maintain. It is stain, heat, and sunlight resistant.
quartz - Quartz worktops are man-made engineered stone, formed by combining 90% ground quartz (a natural hard mineral) with 8-10% resins, polymers, and pigments. This forms a very hard granite-like surface. The appearance depends on how the quartz is ground: coarsely ground quartz produces a flecked appearance, while finely ground quartz produces a smooth look. Companies are able to replicate other stones with quartz and can produce the same finish again and again
Granite - Granite is composed mainly of quartz and feldspar with minor amounts of mica, amphiboles, and other minerals, mined from all over the world giving unique patterns and markings, each slab is completely unique, in its basic form its chopped from the ground polished and delivered to our factory in Newcastle Upon Tyne!!!
Hygiene is another question we get asked about all the time - Solid surface and quartz are both excellent in this feild as they are both non porus
granite is porus but with modern sealers are also excellent for keeping clean
i hope this little guide has helped you decide a little better which worktop youd like to choose if not feel free to pop into R.O Surfaces in Swalwell just accross the A1 from the Metro Centre to have a chat about your project, we will gladly run you through the truth about worktops pros and cons something a lot of our customers dont seem to get anywhere else!!!
