We have some new stock of our famous R.O Calacatta quartz this stuff is flying off the shelf, every customer who sees it falls in love with it!!! Its veined pattern gives it the perfect look of a calcatta marble but with none of the headache!!! pop down to our factory in Swalwell to see it in person the postcode is ne16 3ds.

Weve had a lovely break for a week but we are back to the grind as of monday for the xmas madness, we are keeping strict this year on our last dates for booking which will be the last week in november to book and our last fit dates will be 18th december so if you want your worktops in time for xmas get booked in now or you will miss out!!!!!!!

im still asked about the benefits of quartz, corain, granite etc so as promised wel document it for you bit by bit!!

here is a couple of quotes on what exactly the surfaces are, corian has the same composition as starton, lg, hanex, LG Hi-macs etc

Corian is a synthetic, solid, nonporous, surface countertop material developed by Dupont. One of the many advantages of Corian is that the countertops feature a nearly seamless joint. Corian is also extremely durable and easy to maintain. It is stain, heat, and sunlight resistant.

quartz - Quartz worktops are man-made engineered stone, formed by combining 90% ground quartz (a natural hard mineral) with 8-10% resins, polymers, and pigments. This forms a very hard granite-like surface. The appearance depends on how the quartz is ground: coarsely ground quartz produces a flecked appearance, while finely ground quartz produces a smooth look. Companies are able to replicate other stones with quartz and can produce the same finish again and again

Granite - Granite is composed mainly of quartz and feldspar with minor amounts of mica, amphiboles, and other minerals, mined from all over the world giving unique patterns and markings, each slab is completely unique, in its basic form its chopped from the ground polished and delivered to our factory in Newcastle Upon Tyne!!!

Hygiene is another question we get asked about all the time - Solid surface and quartz are both excellent in this feild as they are both non porus

granite is porus but with modern sealers are also excellent for keeping clean

i hope this little guide has helped you decide a little better which worktop youd like to choose if not feel free to pop into R.O Surfaces in Swalwell just accross the A1 from the Metro Centre to have a chat about your project, we will gladly run you through the truth about worktops pros and cons something a lot of our customers dont seem to get anywhere else!!!

We carry samples of Granites, Silestone, Cambria, Ceaserstone, Qurealla, Technistone, Corian, LG Hi-Macs, Hanex amongst others so we have something for everyone!!!!!

Mad busy as ever!! the swalwell factory is bursting at the seams at the moment, not that we are complaining, the never ending showroom will hopefully be getting some work next month too as weve added another 2 members of staff to cope with the work load.

What influences you when you are choosing a worktop?? Why Silestone over a Corian or a Granite over a Quartz?? weve noticed the recent burst in Corian, Staron and Hi macs as well as our Dekton flying off the shelves, We always ask our customers but most of them have just seen it in a magazine or a friend or relative has some, we always offer truthfull advice on our surfaces the do's and dont's the benifits and what to look out for with all the tops. youd be suprised the amount of people who come in and have been to other places and have been misinformed (especially about quartz and Corian).

We have just added another fabricator to our team for the Solid surface side as we have been approved corian fabricators / suppliers for a long time but a new trade contact has chose us as his Corian supplier in Newcastle and gateshead so our workload on that side has doubled, weve also picked up a new trade customer in Carlisle who we are really excited to work with as he does some fantastic kitchens, you may see our vans over in the lake district in the next few weeks as we have a hotel to do in windermere, a worktop job in keswick and a silestone job in Barrow in Furness, as well as a huge Corian job in Northumberland right beside white house farm so we know where we are going at bait time!! a Cambria quartz job in Benton and Ponteland, 2 stunning black granite jobs (which is also mega popular at the minute) both in Gosforth and a lovely staron solid surface job in Cramlington

Just incase you seen last weeks blog and wondering what it was all about let nhme explain, my little boy asked about gamer x ( i still have no idea what that is) and we had a discussion that i was gamer x, so i put that on last week so that when he googled it my ugly mug would show up!!

Anyway as usual we keep a eye on trends going out of the factory and it seems Silestone is back at the top of the sales list for us which usually means a advert or publication has went out somewhere with it in normally a home and country magazine up in northumberland or the living north show has been on in gosforth, i think the 25 year warranty sells Silestone and i have to say that they are great for support should anything need done. Weve only had 3 warranty issues and Cosentino have come straight out to R.O Surfaces rescue haha.

We have been selected as the preffered marble / granite suppliers in the north east for the stunning Bywell Hall in Stocksfield, Northumberland. We have just delivered a stunning marble table that we have fabricated, i wont put a photo on you can just visit the site once its all finished.

As usual we have been extrememly busy with a Corian jobs in Cramilington, Fenham and gosforth

Weve had 4 Silestone jobs in Ponteland, Gosforth, Westerhope and North Shields and have been selected as the Silestone and quartz supplier for a new delopement in Anlwick so we are all over the place at the minute.

We have a stunning Cosmic black granite job in Whickham, gateshead and a stunning back lit avonite job goin into a showroom in Yarm soon cant wait, we love anything unusual.

This year is flying by i cant believe its July already, and for as long as i can remember the hoppings fair at the town moor has been and it hasnt been raining cats and dogs!!! we are acutally getting a proper summer here in newcastle upon tyne!!

we have done some lovely jobs the last week, weve put this 50mm mitred island in which was our own carrara quartz, weve done a stunning Dekton and Neolith hybrid job where the worktop runs were in Neolith Aspen Grey and the Island was in Dekton Blanc concrete.

Weve also done a silestone gris expo in Gosforth and another quartz job in Whitley bay

Then on Thursday disaster!! we opened the front door and heard the dreaded sound of rushing water, got to the factory door and the whole place was flooded and lots of machines and tools damaged!! Nightmare, so we had to close the Swalwell (gateshead) factory on Thursday. Never mind though this stuff happens and we were back to the grind on Friday. we have a really busy few weeks ahead with 4 samsung Staron jobs and huge Hanex solid surface job with some Corian sinks in to go into chester le street, Ponteland, Hexham, Whickham and Sunderland, 3 Silestone jobs to go in Morpeth, Low Fell and Sunderland and some fabrication of our white/black and grey starlight quartz for some of our traders who use us for fabrication. I hope the rest of the year stays like this. Also the signs are up for the showroom and weve started building the island so hopefully within the next 2 weeks wel have all that boxed off

check out this 50mm deep island, we love it. all done by hand with secret support to aid the strength, we put this in last week in Whickham gateshead. The Island is a carrara quartz island with 20mm worktops to match. Weve been off the radar for a few weeks again just a massive influx of work has kept us at it 7 days a week at the factory in Swalwell right next to the metro centre, Our showroom centre piece still isnt done but we are hopefull that the week after next we can get it fabricated and have the nicest showroom in the North East (lol). Weve been working on some super exciting project over the last few weeks, Sensa granite has been flying out of the racks with installs in Whitley bay, Longbenton, Yarm, Stockton, Hexham and Ponteland. Our Corian and solid surface installers are still at it as well with 3 Corian installs one in Durham, one in Kingston Park and one in Belsay weve done some Grey Onyx, some glacier white and a stunning Staron job with full height splashbacks down in Yarm in Teesdie. Weve been mainly North East based this month and havnt been to Carlisle or the North West a lot at all, but we do have a job in Workington, Carlisle and Whitehaven next month so best put some new tyres on the vans. Cambra quartz is still a big hit with the Newcastle upon tyne folk, we think its because there is nothing quite like it available, obvoulsy our Silestone sales are still going strong, and we have been chosen as the granite, quartz, corian solid surface installers for 3 new showrooms accross the North East so we are really looking forward to working with them, Our Neolith sales are happening too we are proud to be bringing it to the North East, Everyone has heard of Dekton but now the other plaers are here too so we have Laminam, Neolith and Coverlam all hungry for a piece of the market. Pop down the showroom to see some samples and learn about these exciting worktops

we are growing rapidly and have some exciting news coming soon but have to keep a lid on it for now!!
