With the huge rise in compact surfaces we take a little look at what is swaying people towards this new sintered stone or porcelain worktops. Here at R.O Surfaces we love the new technology we have fabricated Dekton, Neolith and Laminam for customers all over the north east and Northumberland with great results. it can be used outdoors as it remains unaffected by exposure to sunlight and is hygienic, so why not let us built you a stunning BBQ area with this material, that's not to say Granite and quartz worktops wont work for BBQ's but quartz is not UV stable so would fade quickly, granite has better results however with constant exposure you may have some fading over time

We do a lot of kitchen worktops in the Porcelain or sintered stone and it is perfect for this - super strong, you can put hot pans direct on the surface you can even take a chainsaw to it!!! Not that we'd recommend that! Acidic wont effect the material such as lemon or wines. The various manufacturers have different thicknesses available at the minute Dekton has the full range in 12mm and 20mm for worktops, whilst Laminam and Neolith have a expanding range with all in 12mm and only some in 20mm I think over the coming months this will change as they will have to keep up with Dekton and they will bring out the whole range in 20mm

So dekton, granite or quartz??? Which would you pick and why????

As we fabricate and supply all of it we are completely impartial so we can give a unbiased opinion.

R.O Surfaces unbiased opinion is.......................whichever You like the best!! Seriously there is very little difference to the actual end user although the porcelains are a lot harder you aren't really going to be hitting the worktops with sledge hammers etc!! If you drop a cup or glass on any of the tops the glass would smash before you worktops

We've been mega busy these last few weeks with our usual Siltstone, Staron, Qurella quartz and granite jobs being installed in Ponteland, Cramlington, Gosforth and Montague in Newcastle upon tyne and Northumberland. We have also been supplying a lot of trade fitters and have picked up some more showrooms. If you are a showroom and would like to talk to us about supplying you please get in touch for a chat or pop into the showroom to see us we are situated right next to the metro centre R.O Surfaces, unit 2 foundry park market lane NE16 3DS

its been so hectic the last 4 weeks or so we havnt even had time to be on our blog!! We have been so busy with our granite worktops flying out the door. Some of mother natures finest. We have some stunning 30mm viscount white granite with waterfall legs up in Darras Hall, 6 jobs of our marble effect quartz worktops all over the north east of england including Ponteland, Medburn, Cramlington, Westerhope, Killingworth and Chapel house. Our Solid surface division has been busy with corian and staron jobs too.

Also we are still squaring away the showroom but we now have some stunning 12mm dekton trillium on displays and some of our 20mm marble effect quartz with quartz sink drainer grooves and waterfall edge to boot. All with a full height splashback it looks truly stunning, we will be having a grand opening very soon and our invites will be going out to all the local resisdents of Whickham, Swalwell, Dunston, Rowlands Gill, Team Valley and all the other surrounding areas.

We were talking with one of our trade customers last week to who have a place on team valley and he said customers have said umpteen times that there is no granite worktop suppliers on team Valley. We are literally 5 minutes drive from there. Our address is R.O Studio / R.O Surfaces, unit 2 , foudry park, market lane, swalwell, ne16 3ds.

We still have a bit of a battle to get the new showroom done which feels like its been going on forever but its looking truly stunning and we have some supper exciting stuff going on!!!!

Have you seen the new ultra thin Dekton surface for bathroom walls???? its 4mm thick, super large format tiles. When we say large format we mean large format as is 3000mm x 1200mm yes thats right 3 meters by 1.2 meters and are truly stunning. pop in and say hi and have a look at some samples

We showcased the new Dekton Bergan over at our facebook page and its truly stunning!! Real earthy tones with natural looking veining, we will be having a slab of it on display at our Swalwell showroom in the near future.

What a first week back its been!! Weve had lots of quotes flying out this week and been busy with the showroom and getting the first few jobs ready to go out the door. Weve got some Caeserstone quartz going into Whitely bay and Wylam. Our Ceaserstone seems to be doing really well at the minute i don't think they had a big presence in the North East (especially Newcastle Upon Tyne) until recently now we cant stock it quick enough. They have some pretty interesting quartz colours and styles to choose from, if you'd like to see some come and visit us and see what all the fuss is about!!!

Weve just installed some Starton solid surface (like Corian) at one of our trade customers showrooms in Blaydon which looks amazing too.

Now the real work starts on our own place we've ripped out all upstairs so are in the process of building all the bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms and of course all the worktops. We are having a mixture of everything we will be using Silestone, Cambria, Caeserstone, Dekton, Corian and Staron with some stunning Granite worktops thrown in the mix. We cant wait for it to be finished to show the whole world!!

We are proud suppliers and fabricators of Silestone, Cambria, Caeserstone, Dekton, Corian and Staron and we have been called to a lot of corian repairs and solid surface repairs in general, some had to be ripped out and started from scratch so please visit the people who are doing your work before hand to see what they can do we are worktops specialists and will gladly show our work off to any potential customers

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all, we are back to it!!!! We are showcasing the Semi precious stone by Cosentino this is truly stunning

Prexury® is a new series of materials made from semiprecious stones and other natural materials. This exceptional collection combines natural, semi-precious stones, petrified wood and unusual fossils to create solid, elegant surfaces with the most extraordinary designs.

It is at the higher end of the pricing bracket but you'd be having something truly unique, it can be backlit to make it stand out as in the photo!! If your thinking of a project like this come and give us a shout.

In the forefront of the month we've got some exciting projects coming up. We are kitcking off with some stunning Caeserstone projects in Sunderland and Wylam, we have a silestone project in Riding Mill and lovely Cosmic black granite job in Whickham. We have a Staron solid surface bathroom to do in Cramlington and a Corian job with moulded sinks, drainers and coved upstands in Ponteland.

Our showroom is under construction again as we are changing everything round and we have took over upstairs so the showroom will be 100% bigger, but as always the kettle will be on. We are hoping this year to push for even more work and add another few members to the team so if you are looking for marble, granite, quartz, corian, staron, glass splashbacks in any colour, dekton or any other ceramics in the north east pop in and see us for a chat.
