Tropical Storm Granite Worktops in Jesmond | R.O Surfaces

This project in Jesmond was all about creating contrast. The kitchen itself is clean and minimal, so rather than blending in, the worktop was used to introduce depth and movement. The Tropical Storm granite brings a much stronger visual presence, turning the island into a proper focal point rather than just another surface.

Sourcing the stone

For this project, the stone was sourced directly from Italy, allowing us to hand-select slabs with the strongest natural variation and character. That level of sourcing makes a noticeable difference — not just in quality, but in how unique the final result feels. No two pieces are the same, which is exactly what gives natural stone its appeal and exactly what our customers wanted. They had a vision from the moment they walked through the showroom door and had been told it didnt exist, it took a while but we found exaclty what they wanted.

Fabrication and design

Getting a result like this isn’t just about the material — it comes down to how it’s used. From the choice of stone to the alignment of the veining across the waterfall edge, every detail needs to be considered properly. This is where our experience in both design and fabrication makes the difference.
